032c Pyrate Radio: swedm® – THE LAUNCH
The 032c universe is a place for FREEDOM, RESEARCH, and CREATIVITY, and like any universe, 032c is expanding. Since our founding in 2000, 032c has evolved into a multimedia entity, branching into events, starting a ready-to-wear line (that has shown at Paris Fashion Week), and opening a gallery space in addition to our storefront on Kantstrasse. This year, we are pleased to announce the launch of 032c PYRATE RADIO, with a debut episode featuring a DJ set by swedm® – a collective that includes previous 032c cover star Varg²™ and jamesjamesjames.
Quality music coverage is foundational to our editorial practice, and as a Berlin-based magazine, 032c’s connection to the world of electronic music has always been strong. It is a consistent subject of fascination for both our team and our readers around the world.
As the tyranny of algorithmic streaming platforms increasingly devalues music and erases the role of human artistry in its creation, 032c feels now, more than ever, the need to create a space for play, spontaneity, and experimentation in music—from Berlin to the world.
Conceived as a space liberated from the suffocating pressure of condensing artistic practices into 30-second viral clips, 032c Radio offers musicians something increasingly rare in the current landscape: complete freedom. Our radio show will echo the core mission of everything we do—to inform, provoke, activate, delight, surprise, and challenge our audience via thoughtful engagement with an ever-shifting cultural landscape. You can listen to the first episode either on YouTube or on SoundCloud.

There’s no better way to announce a pirate radio station than by throwing a party, and no better venue than Studio1111. In addition to the radio station, we had plenty of reasons to celebrate, from the launch of the forty-ninth issue of the magazine to the very first issue of EROS. An exquisite menu offered everything that was light and easy to digest in the sweltering heat—tuna tacos, sea bass, and a coconut-passion fruit dessert—so friends, family, and contributors to 032c could gather in an intimate, candlelit atmosphere, in partnership with Escentric Molecules, an independent London-based fragrance house placing aroma molecules at the center of perfume composition.
Studio1111 provided the perfect immersive environment for the event, not only because you step right onto the dance floor as soon as you leave the dining room, but also because of the video installations that projected all of our celebrated endeavors onto the walls. On display were our cover images, the inside pages of EROS, and, of course, the first episode of Pyrate Radio featuring Varg²™.
Kickstarting the party that was sponsored by Crocs, our fellow Pyrate Radio colleague Cassidy George did us the honors of spinning the first hour as DJ. Afterwards, the Herrensauna resident SALOME took over with her signature blend of driving techno, electro, and vocal pop. You wouldn’t have known it was a Thursday at the party. Perhaps this thanks goes in part to the generous support from Belvedere, which supplied the event with passion fruit shots.
